Creative Writing Class

I don’t even remember that this photograph was ever taken. I am standing to the right of our Professor, Bienvenido N. Santos, a well-known Filipino novelist whose writing I have always admired. I took the class for credits toward my Master’s in English Literature. According to my transcript of records, this class was Lit 5260a: Seminar: Literature and Ideas, offered in the summer of 1985. It was nice to have Fay Balderas-Ejercito in this class (seated, 2nd from right) as well–that was quite a surprise, although she took it for audit rather than for credit, I think. I remember some of the faces of my classmates, but I could not recall any other names of my classmates if my life depended on it.
