Hands (poem)

It takes but one hand

Reaching out

To touch another hand

And be a pair

It takes but two hands

Both reaching out

To touch another pair

And if they all reach out

How many hands are there

And behind each pair

There stands someone

And in each one

There lies a heart

And all those hearts

Are reaching out

To touch another heart

And if they all reach out

How many hearts are there

And all those hands

Touch other hands

And all those hearts

Touch other hearts

And in the end

They live as one

And when they stand

They stand as one

With many hands

And many hearts
