passion (poem)

0

passion

what is passion

but intense desire

a torrent of kisses

cascading over two bodies

entwined

entangled arms and legs

and hair

surging over the sheets

a surf

washing the shore

in endless motion

spent

like the sea

gently lapping at

the beach

pulling at the sand

persistent

incessant

tender caresses

silent

but for a faint sighing

echoed infinitessimally

in love

tracing patterns

across wet sand

over and over

again

the sea

runs its fingers

over the beach

picking at the particles

leaving its marks

in wet kisses washed over

by more kisses

building up anew

a storm

beating against the shore

relentlessly

thrashing the sands

thrown up in throes

of passion.

Return to Poetry

destiny (poem)

0

we meet again

on some strange plateau

in some bizarre tableau

not really bizarre

i never believed in deja vu

yet

by some miracle

time has brought us

together

a miracle contrived

true

but those moments

were not a dream

or were they?

was there ever truth

in the saying that

people meant to be for each other

have their paths cross

inspite of

because of

fate?

what future is there

to build?

we build

is it on ageless waves

and must we drift with the foam

forever?

Return to Poetry

behind the smile (poem)

2

a smile

can say so many things

and not say anything at all

and yet

you smile

what does it mean?

so much is left unsaid

i cannot read

between blank lines

what secrets deep and dark

do you keep?

amenities are social necessities

yet somehow

i cannot believe in yours

you talk

and heaven knows that what you say

is not what you should say

nor what you are trying to say

you have too many hidden meanings

is it something you fear?

perhaps it is yourself

you are hiding behind

that smile.

Return to Poetry

memories (poem)

0

reminiscing

as the rain pours

watching drops indistinguishable

from each other

in torrents of memories

hazy sheets on a hazy night

parting in puddles

spiralling

and merging again

in darkened pools

of memories

Return to Poetry

without you (poem)

0

reaching out

i find empty space

where you should have been

where you were in my dream

and i bury my head in my pillow

and pull the sheets about me

trying to find you.

what words can tell

how you’ve always been a part of me

always, since we parted ways —

oh, so long ago —

half of my life was missing

half of my life was empty

till you came back into my life

and i still don’t know

what words to say

Return to Poetry

Thunderclouds and Lightning (poem)

0

thunderclouds and ligntning

filled the sky.

i met a dream

that walked with me

for but a moment

of euphoric haze

a dream

that touched me

and for a moment

we walked

in a drizzle

of honeyed rain

soaked through

with blissful warmth

that burned

with fierce glow

of white fire

and drowned

in torrents

a blackened downpour

of blinded fury

shattering the serenity

of sleeping soil

rending the bloody earth

in two

the honeyed rain

seeping through

unfathomed depths

leading — where?

the roots exposed

reach out

to bridge an impossible

gap

that greedily swallows

the tears of heaven.

i gaze across and see

my dream

calling me

our fingertips brush

lightly

over the chasm.

should we clasp

each other and

together

fall

through a vortex of void blackness

the clamor

of our descent would be

dimmed by

the din of

thunderclouds and

lightning.

Return to Poetry

a life (poem)

0

a birth

is all it takes

to commence a lifetime

of existence

in a world

of living;

a death

merely punctuates

reality

jarring us

into the realization

that

life exists;

love

is what makes it all

more painful.

Return to Poetry

by the sea (poem)

0

my mind it seems

has wrought a million lines

all thought

is centered round

you and

when no more words

come pouring out

i seek

a peaceful cove

to hide myself

where i can watch

the sea as it

endlessly

bathes the shore

and i dream

of you as i feel

the warm waves

caressing me

as you once did

and i find

comfort knowing

that once before

we loved.

and as the sea

returns forever

in tireless innuendo

courting a still shore

that yields

no more than but

few grains of sand

each time

i yield with each return

a little bit of me

until

no more is left

to yield

after an eternity.

Sonnet VIII (poem)

0

on moonless nights as this i find

in aimless flights of dreams, my mind

and though a million thoughts cruise by

the last one ever makes me sigh

i’ve dreamt of hills and mountains tall

greens and plains, i’ve seen them all

the moon and stars are common sights

likewise the sun with brilliant light

on earth the sweetest songs i’ve heard

and all but one were sung with words:

all haunting tunes of love-worn lines

that fade too soon with passing time.

the sweetest song if ever true

all nature sings when i’m with you.

Concert (poem)

softly plays

the music as i

lie in the dark

waiting

and soon the madness

begins as i

quiver with every

chord struck

my body tensed

like violin strings

feeling

your symphonies of

unbridled passion

playing over me

like nocturnes

gently, slowly

mounting to a

frenzied crescendo

of deafening

scales chromatically

rising

an octave higher

each time until

the notes strike

fortississimo

in a second that

lasts

for eternity

it seems

the strings should

break as they

dance with the

melody till

ever so gently

in diminuendo

the passion subsides

and plays adagio

again, ever so

softly as in

a whisper

engulfed by darkness

the movement

reaches coda.
